Catford Food Market Wins Award!

Our local market - and neighbour on Catford broadway - which pops up on the last Sunday of every month has won an award, and we are so pleased that they are being recognised for the amazing work they do for the community!

They picked up their award at the 6th annual UK Enterprise Awards hosted by SME News. Catford Food Market has been recognised as the Best Local Food & Drink Business Promotion Platform 2022 in South East London

Catford Food Market has become much more than just a market, it is a sustainable and accessible hub which brings the community together and gives back to the local economy:

  • For every £1 spent at a local independent business, between 50 and 70p circulates back into the Catford economy.
  • 100% of traders at the market are based in South London with 60% based in Lewisham and 35% based in Catford itself.
  • Catford Food Market strives to reflect the population of Catford - 48% of which identify as Black, Asian or an ethnic minority -  which is why 50% of traders at the market are Black, Asian or an ethnic minority.
  • Reducing food miles and promoting sustainability is important to us too, and that is why all of their traders source their ingredients locally, use only cotton and paper bags, and have eliminated all single use plastic where possible.

As you know, House of Catford is open every Sunday and Sunday from 10-5pm so, why not plan your next visit to coincide with Catford Food Market so you can browse our lovely gift shop, replenish your gin supplies and try out some of South East London's best street food.

The next market will be held on 31st July 2022 from 10-4pm - we're looking forward to seeing you already!
